Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – March is set to be a month of compassion and action for animals in Puerto Vallarta, as the Animal Welfare Department, led by Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía’s municipal government, rolls out a series of initiatives focused on responsible pet ownership, adoption, and improved animal protection policies.
The lineup includes dog-assisted therapy sessions on March 14 and 28 at Casa Tucán Poetas, offering therapeutic support for children with motor disabilities, expectant mothers, and others in need. On March 16, an “Adoptón” event at the Linear Park of the Pitillal River will give rescue animals a chance to find loving homes.
Complementing this, free vaccination and deworming services will be available on March 15 at La Isla Shopping Village and on March 29 in the Las Juntas district, thanks to a collaboration with the University Brigade of the Centro Universitario de la Costa.
A key event this month will be the March 26 roundtable, where citizens, specialists, and authorities will contribute to shaping new Animal Welfare Regulations. Roberto Ornelas, head of the Animal Welfare Department, emphasized the importance of these discussions in creating stronger policies to protect companion animals.
These efforts highlight the local government’s commitment to animal welfare, encouraging the community to take an active role in responsible pet care. Residents are invited to participate and help make Puerto Vallarta a more compassionate place for animals.
