Puerto Vallarta Soars in Popularity, Flight Searches Up Over 25%

Puerto Vallarta continues to capture global attention, with a major rise in flight searches confirming its strong appeal. According to data from AMADEUS, searches for the destination grew by more than 25% in the first half of 2025, highlighting the city’s growing popularity among domestic and international travelers.

From January to May, nearly 9.4 million flight searches were recorded in the national market alone – a 26.34% increase compared to the same period last year. Interest in summer travel also surged, with 2.39 million searches between June and August, up from 1.89 million in 2024.

Cities across Mexico showed increased demand, especially Mexico City, Tijuana, Monterrey, Querétaro, and Cancún. Internationally, the strongest growth came from Canada – particularly Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary – as well as from California and the northeastern United States.

Global searches from outside Mexico reached 39 million, up from 29.3 million last year, marking a 25% rise. Summer travel intentions from abroad also climbed, with 9.87 million searches this year versus 7.55 million in 2024.

The United States and Canada continue to be Puerto Vallarta’s primary source markets, each showing year-over-year growth of over 30%. Emerging markets like Germany are also beginning to play a more prominent role. These trends reflect the success of targeted promotions and strong partnerships with travel industry leaders.

Vallarta’s allure lies in its unique setting. Nestled between the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains and the Pacific Ocean, it offers a rich natural environment perfect for adventure and relaxation. Visitors can choose from over 50 outdoor activities, from jungle excursions to water sports.

This Jalisco treasure blends the charm of a traditional Mexican town with the amenities of a top-tier destination. With an international airport, cruise port, convention center, world-class golf courses, and more than 26,000 hotel rooms, it caters to every type of traveler.

Recognized as Mexico’s most LGBTQ+-inclusive city and a favorite for destination weddings, Puerto Vallarta also boasts more than 2,000 restaurants offering cuisine from around the globe. Its cultural calendar features food festivals, sporting events, and entertainment year-round.

As Puerto Vallarta looks ahead to the rest of 2025, its position as one of Mexico’s leading beach destinations is stronger than ever – welcoming more travelers from across the world with open arms and unforgettable experiences.
