Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In an effort to preserve the city’s rich history and architectural beauty, the Puerto Vallarta City Council has officially approved the formation of a special commission dedicated to the restoration of the Historic Center.
This initiative, titled the Transitional City Council Commission for the Rescue of the Historic Center, is set to be a key player in protecting and enhancing the heart of the city for years to come.
The commission, which will be in effect until September 30, 2027, is tasked with a clear mission: to rescue, protect, revitalize, and redensify the area. This effort is seen as a crucial step in ensuring that the Historic Center continues to be a cherished space that reflects the city’s unique social identity.
Mayor Luis Munguía will lead the commission, bringing together a dedicated group of council members including Arnulfo Ortega Contreras, María Magdalena Urbina Martínez, Christian Omar Bravo Carbajal, Felipe Aréchiga Gómez, Luis Jesús Escoto Martínez, and Melissa Marlene Madero Plascencia. This team will act as a working body of the City Council, analyzing and making decisions on all matters related to the restoration project.
The creation of this commission highlights a strong commitment to the future of Puerto Vallarta. By focusing on the Historic Center, city leaders aim to secure its role as a powerful engine for both economic and cultural development, ensuring that its heritage is preserved for future generations to enjoy.
