Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – One of the most prestigious events on Mexico’s Pacific coast, the Puerto Vallarta International Sport Fishing Tournament, will celebrate its 69th edition from November 12 through 15, 2025. Organized by the Puerto Vallarta Club de Pesca, the event continues its long-standing tradition of bringing together anglers from across Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
The tournament, officially known as the Marlin and Tuna Fishing Tournament, is organized by the respected Puerto Vallarta Club de Pesca (Sport Fishing Club). This year’s competition promises considerable excitement for both participants and spectators, backed by a substantial prize pool totaling more than 1 million pesos.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to marine life, the organizers have once again excluded the Sailfish category. This conservation practice, adopted by several other tournaments as well, is aimed at supporting the species’ recovery in the region.
Competition for the remaining categories will be intense, with lucrative cash prizes awaiting the top anglers.
The largest payout is reserved for the Marlin category, where the best catch will earn 500,000 pesos. Other top prizes include 100,000 pesos for the largest Tuna, and 50,000 pesos for the best Dorado (Mahi-Mahi). Additional awards include 200,000 pesos for second place in the Marlin category, premium fishing equipment for lower rankings, and generous cash prizes for top Tuna and Dorado catches.
The event begins with registration on November 12 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm at the Club de Pesca headquarters, located at Hamburgo 145 in Colonia Versalles. Official fishing begins the following morning at 7:00 am in front of Hotel Rosita in downtown Puerto Vallarta. Fishing continues through November 15, with open departures at midnight on Days 2 and 3.
Daily weigh-ins and receptions will take place between 2:00 and 6:00 pm on the Marina Vallarta Malecón, next to Marina del Rey condominiums. The tournament will culminate with an awards ceremony at the same location on November 15 at 7:00 pm, celebrating the winners and participants who make this event a success year after year.
The success of the tournament is made possible by a strong collaboration between the Club de Pesca and its dedicated sponsors, including the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, Hotel Rosita, the Marina Vallarta Neighborhood Association, Aletta Lures, Raymarine, Opequimar, and Zaragoza Marine. With strong international and local participation expected, this year’s tournament is poised to be another exciting and memorable success.
