Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – On Friday, June 14, Puerto Vallarta will join cities across the globe in standing up for U.S. democratic values during a local “No U.S. Kings Day” rally. The event is organized by the No U.S. Kings Day Group and endorsed by Democrats Abroad Costa Banderas, in support of the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law.
The gathering is part of an international day of peaceful action aligned with nationwide demonstrations in the United States. As Washington D.C. hosts a costly military parade, estimated to cost taxpayers $25-$45 million, concerned citizens and expatriates will gather in communities around the world to promote justice, freedom, and accountability.
Martha McDevitt-Pugh, International Chair of Democrats Abroad, shared that recent months have brought growing resistance to MAGA-style authoritarianism. “It will only continue,” she said, “as more people see how cruel and destructive Trump’s big bad billionaire budget will be to them – even as he spends millions to throw himself a vanity military parade.”
The local rally in Puerto Vallarta will take place on the West Lawn at Oscar’s Restaurant from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Located on Rio Cuale in the heart of Zona Romántica, Oscar’s offers a scenic riverside setting for reflection and unity. Guests are encouraged to stay afterward for informal social time, with drinks and snacks available for purchase. The venue also features a distillery and full-service dining.
Organizers are reminding attendees to bring a sign, bring a friend, and bring their voice. As guests in Mexico, participants emphasize their respect for local laws by focusing strictly on U.S. issues and voter outreach, without engaging in Mexican politics.
Those interested in joining are asked to RSVP at democratsabroad.org. For ongoing updates, follow Democrats Abroad Costa Banderas on Facebook.
