Puerto Vallarta, México – The 2026 Medio Maratón Turístico Puerto Vallarta 21K returns on Sunday, February 15, welcoming elite athletes, recreational runners, families, and visitors for a full morning of competition and community spirit along the city’s coastline.
The event begins early, with the 21K Elite category starting at 5:40 am, followed by the general 21K field at 7:00 am. The 5K race will start at 7:15 am, and the day wraps up with a 3-kilometer family fun walk at 7:35 am. All races will start and finish at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Complex, also known as the Municipal Stadium or “El Estadio.”

Designed to include runners of all experience levels, the event offers three distances: the main 21-kilometer half marathon, a 5K recreational race, and a 3K fun walk open to participants of any age. The half marathon features categories including Free, Sub-Masters, Masters, Masters A, Masters B, and Masters C, while the 3K and 5K races are recreational and open-entry.
Registered participants in the 21K and 5K will receive a complete race kit with electronic timing, a timing chip, commemorative medal, race number, drawstring bag, and a dry-fit shirt. Race kits can be picked up on February 14, from 10 am to 5 pm at Expo Atletismo, located at the sports complex.
As part of Mexico’s national marathon and half-marathon circuit and endorsed by World Athletics, the Puerto Vallarta 21K has consistently attracted top runners from across Mexico and international competitors. This year’s event will award a prize purse exceeding 260,000 pesos, reinforcing its standing as one of the region’s most anticipated road races.
The course follows Puerto Vallarta’s coastal corridor, with hydration stations placed at strategic points such as La Isla, Península, and Europa. Turnaround points are clearly marked, and all races finish with a celebratory lap on the stadium’s athletics track, a highlight for many participants.
For safety and traffic management, runners in the 21K must complete the course within a 3-hour and 30-minute time limit. Authorities have also announced center-lane road closures from 2:00 am to 11:00 am along the race route, which begins at the stadium and continues north along Francisco Medina Ascencio. Turnaround points include Plaza Las Glorias for the 3K, Puerto de Luna Hotel for the 5K, and extended returns at +Sano in Fluvial Vallarta and the Sheraton for the 21K.
Registration for the 2026 Puerto Vallarta Tourist Half Marathon 21K closes on February 9, 2026, through the event’s official website and Facebook page.
