Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The Traffic and Road Safety Subdirectorate, with support from the Luis Munguía administration, is reminding residents and businesses to renew their yellow line permits or apply for new ones. This initiative aims to maintain order on public roads and ensure designated spaces are properly used.
The yellow line permit allows individuals to reserve a specific area on public streets. To ensure these spaces are respected, authorities emphasize that the yellow markings must be clearly visible and well-maintained. Those who already have a permit are asked to repaint their designated areas as needed to comply with regulations.
This permit system applies to both commercial properties, such as businesses needing space for loading and unloading, and residential properties, where homeowners may require clear access to their garages.
To apply for or renew a yellow line permit, individuals must visit the Transit offices located within the Municipal Administrative Unit (UMA). The required documentation includes:
- A letter addressed to Katia Vargas Guillén, Deputy Director of Transit and Road Safety, detailing the requested length in meters, the hours of intended use, and a contact phone number.
- Approval from the local neighborhood council.
- A photograph of the property’s facade.
- A sketch showing the location of the requested space.
- A copy of the applicant’s National Statistics Institute (INE) identification.
- For businesses, a copy of their operating license or provisional permit. For homes, a copy of the property tax statement.
- Proof of address.
Authorities are also encouraging citizens to formalize any existing exclusive use of public road spaces. A program to recover unauthorized public spaces will begin in August, aiming to clear illegally occupied areas and ensure unobstructed public access. This push for regularization is part of a broader effort to improve traffic flow and pedestrian access throughout the city.
