Puerto Vallarta’s Camarones Beach Nears Blue Flag Certification

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Excitement is building as Camarones Beach is on track to achieve Blue Flag certification within the next two to three months. This prestigious designation, anticipated between July and August, will further solidify Puerto Vallarta’s reputation as a prime tourist destination dedicated to maintaining pristine and well-cared-for coastal areas.

Councilman Christian Omar Bravo Carbajal, who presides over the City Council’s Clean, Free, and Certified Beaches committee, shared the encouraging news. He highlighted the comprehensive efforts undertaken by the municipal government and his committee, which focus on beach certification, environmental improvements, and the overall preservation of Vallarta’s coastline.

“We’ve done an excellent job with the cleanup campaigns we’ve conducted since the start of our administration,” stated Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Munguía. “Completing more than 18 cleanups and collecting over 125 tons of trash so far, we’re not going to let our guard down.”

The upcoming Blue Flag certification for Camarones Beach follows the successful White Flag certification previously awarded to Playa de Oro. Councilman Bravo Carbajal explained that extensive work has been underway at Camarones Beach for several months to meet the rigorous standards required for Blue Flag status. This includes meticulous sampling and assessments that began two months ago, ensuring all necessary characteristics are met.

With the certification ceremony expected to take place between July and August, Councilman Bravo Carbajal extended an important invitation to the Vallarta community. He urged everyone to actively participate in the care and preservation of the beaches, rivers, and canals that flow into the sea, emphasizing the importance of a clean and healthy environment for all.

“Let them remember that the beaches belong to us, and we must take care of them and respect them,” he stressed. “And not just the beaches, but also our environment. Remember, during this rainy season, don’t throw trash into streams or canals, because all we’re doing is throwing that same trash into the ocean.”
