Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The heart of Puerto Vallarta is about to get a major makeover. In a strong show of teamwork, the Government of Jalisco and the State Tourism Department (Sectur) have joined forces to breathe new life into the city’s Historic Center – one of the most iconic spots on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Jalisco’s Secretary of Tourism, Michelle Fridman, and Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Munguía walked through key areas of the city alongside Juan Pablo Martínez, City and Historic Center Manager, and a team of tourism and urban planning experts. Their goal: to outline a bold plan for renewal.

The team visited landmark sites such as the Plaza de Armas, the Cuale River Island, and the La Cruz Lookout. These beloved places are set to benefit from targeted improvements that reflect Vallarta’s unique character while enhancing its beauty and functionality for residents and tourists.
This renovation is part of a broader strategy focused on preserving the area’s historic and architectural charm while boosting its cultural and economic value. The plan also aims to create more welcoming public spaces and support the community with better infrastructure.
By joining efforts with the state government, Puerto Vallarta is reaffirming its dedication to preserving its roots while looking ahead to a brighter, more prosperous future. The upcoming transformation of the Historic Center promises to strengthen Vallarta’s identity and ensure it remains a treasured destination for generations to come.
