Puerto Vallarta’s Mirador de la Cruz Set for $18M Upgrade

Puerto Vallarta’s Mirador de la Cruz Set for M Upgrade

Puerto Vallarta’s Mirador de la Cruz is set for a major transformation as part of Jalisco’s strategy to enhance the city’s tourism infrastructure. The state government, through the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, will invest more than 18 million pesos in the rehabilitation of this popular lookout.

Rising high above downtown Vallarta, the Mirador offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views on the Mexican Pacific. From its platform, visitors enjoy sweeping sights of Banderas Bay, the Sierra Madre Mountains, and the city itself – an experience often considered among the best free activities in town.

Mayor Luis Munguía announced the project, highlighting its role in strengthening Puerto Vallarta’s appeal to both national and international travelers. “This is a significant investment that will breathe new life into the Mirador de la Cruz, an iconic space that will undergo a comprehensive renovation and will also serve as preparation for projects like the cable car,” he said.

The rehabilitation is expected not only to preserve the lookout’s natural charm but also to improve the visitor experience. This initiative forms part of a broader vision for tourism development, with the planned cable car project aiming to make the site even more accessible in the future.

Visitors can currently reach the Mirador through different routes. One option is climbing Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez Street, a gradually steepening path leading to the viewpoint. Another popular way is via Abasolo Street from the Malecón, where the communications antenna serves as a guide to the summit.

Once at the top, travelers are rewarded with a full 360-degree panorama. The ocean’s expanse stretches endlessly, while the Sierra Madre reveals a stunning mountain backdrop rarely appreciated from the city below. This remarkable blend of sea and mountains has made Mirador de la Cruz a must-see attraction for those exploring Puerto Vallarta.

With the upcoming renovation, the lookout will continue to shine as a treasured landmark, welcoming visitors from around the world and showcasing the natural beauty that defines the Banderas Bay region.
