Puerto Vallarta is turning a new page with the launch of a modern garbage collection system, addressing long-standing waste management issues. Residents are optimistic about this initiative, spearheaded by Mayor Luis Munguía, who has already made significant strides just two and a half months into his administration.
“This marks a decisive step in reviving our city and ensuring its cleanliness and appeal as a premier tourist destination,” said Munguía during the launch event. The system, operated by Red Ambiental in partnership with the municipal government, promises to deliver immediate results, restoring the city’s reputation and functionality.
The fleet includes 29 state-of-the-art garbage trucks and a team of 250 trained workers, all dedicated to efficient waste collection. Red Ambiental’s president, Horacio Guerra, expressed the company’s commitment to delivering top-tier service worthy of Vallarta’s international status.
The initiative doesn’t stop there. Plans are underway to establish “Clean Nests,” strategically placed containers for waste collection, alongside a gradual rollout of waste separation practices. These measures aim to transform Puerto Vallarta into a national model for cleanliness and sustainable urban management.
With these advancements, residents can expect cleaner neighborhoods and improved sanitation conditions throughout the city. Puerto Vallarta is embracing a cleaner, brighter future, proving that collaborative efforts between government and private sectors can lead to impactful change.
