Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The latest news from PuRR Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter just north of Puerto Vallarta that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.
SHELTER UPDATE

October was hot and humid and volunteers and cats alike were grateful for any shady spots. Rains from two passing hurricanes, Priscilla and Raymond, caused extensive flooding and damage in many areas of the Bay but thankfully the shelter was NOT one of those! The heat and the overcrowding in the nursery casitas has been a problem so we are hoping for cooler weather sooner than later.

THE PURR NURSERY
At this count, we have 127 kittens in the nursery casitas or clinic. We took in 30 abandoned kittens in the last four weeks plus several adults and one very pregnant female. With only 3 adoptions in October we have a lot of kitties to find homes for!

Many are on the schedule for spay or neuter and vaccinations as they reach the necessary weight and age. Then off to PetCo where we pray adoptions will pick up in high season. We bring kittens to the PetCo Adoption Center every Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 am and it’s the purr-fect place to meet YOUR next best Furry Friend!
ADOPTION UPDATE: COCO
Coco (formerly Vaquero) was adopted in June of 2024 by Lindsay Cullen and her family. He was the only survivor of 3 tiny babies left in a box at the shelter gate. Lindsay reports: “Coco Bean is continuing to live his best life with brother Koba. He has been a wonderful addition to our family and we love him to bits!! Keep up the good work!” We love to hear news like this!
GRACIAS! THANKS! MERCI! DANKE! ARIGATO!
We send a huge thanks to Cherri Gillmore for another very generous donation in October. As always, we are grateful for those monthly donors who are so essential to our success: The McCullough Family Gift Fund, Gary Phillips, Sharon & Ken Rose, Terri & Gray Levy, Joanne Bryla, Trisha Aljoe, Pat & Sandy Glenn, Catherine Goglia & Jim Shoemaker, Karen & Walt Trolson, Shari Stone-Ulrich, Robert Weed, Jerry Petrizzo, Heidi Benedict, Timothy Oleno, Larry Sherwood, Mary & Bob Fitzgerald, David Flannery, Elizabeth Fuerherm, Janice North and Katie Hannasch.
