Quarantini Recipes Keep Spirits High

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Since the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a global pandemic, many people, even those who have not been infected by the virus, are choosing to self-quarantine over the coming weeks.

Spending time at home might sound good at first, since it seems like an opportunity to escape the demands of your daily schedule and get some much-needed rest, read a book, or watch a lot of Netflix but, for those who lead an active social life, boredom will eventually set in.

But, never fear, the “Quarantini” is here! Just like a Martini, except you sit at home and drink it by yourself, the Quarantini could be the recipe for keeping your spirits high when social isolation has you feeling down.

The classic Gin Martini will always remain a favorite but, as more people find themselves stuck at home, the popularity of ‘Quarantinis’ is growing at a rapid pace and new recipes are popping up every day. Here are a few of our favorites:

The Original Quarantini
2 ounces of Vodka
3/4 ounce honey
1/2 ounce fresh lemon (or lime) juice

The Emergarita
2 ounces of mezcal
Two dashes orange bitters
Juice of half a lime
One teaspoon of honey

Vodka Quarantini
2 ounces of vodka
A splash of seltzer
A heavy dash of lime juice

Bee’s Knees
2 ounces gin
3/4 ounce honey
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice

Mexi-tini
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1 1/2 ounces tequila
1 1/2 ounces orange juice

Quarantinis are certainly not a cure-all, but they might be a cure for sobriety, which is its own reward in these troubled times. So, gather up the ingredients for these recipes (or whatever you can concoct with your at-home supply), pour them into a cocktail shaker, add ice, shake vigorously, strain into a martini glass, and enjoy!
