Quick-Thinking Driver & Emergency Crews Prevent Tragedy in Bus Fire

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – On Saturday morning, a public transportation bus caught fire near the entrance of the Juárez parking lot, prompting a swift response from emergency services. The driver, noticing the flames, attempted to put them out with the vehicle’s fire extinguisher. When his efforts failed, he quickly guided all 10 passengers to safety through the back door.

Civil Protection and Firefighters, along with police, arrived shortly after, but the front of the UnibusPV unit had already been severely damaged. Officers closed the street to traffic while firefighters tackled the flames, securing the natural gas tanks to prevent an explosion. Within minutes, the fire was fully extinguished.

Paramedics checked on a few passengers who remained at the scene, though most had fled in fear. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Firefighters also acted swiftly to protect nearby businesses in Plaza Juárez, ensuring that the flames did not spread.

Early investigations suggest the fire was caused by a short circuit. While the incident resulted in some material losses, the quick actions of the driver and emergency teams prevented a more serious outcome.
