Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – The municipal government of Puerto Vallarta is making significant strides in restoring the city’s downtown area following the events of Sunday, February 22. Under the leadership of Mayor Luis Munguía, local authorities have launched a comprehensive recovery initiative focused on public safety and the swift recovery of public spaces.
This coordinated effort, led by Jorge Durán and the City and Historic Center Management, has brought together specialized teams from Civil Protection, the Fire Department, and the Directorate of Efficient Services.
Crews have worked diligently to clear the main thoroughfare, successfully removing 21 cars and 7 large trucks that had previously obstructed traffic. Following the removal of these vehicles, teams performed deep industrial washing to ensure the streets are clean and ready for daily use.

Beyond the immediate cleanup, the city is seizing this moment to enhance the overall infrastructure of the downtown area. Maintenance crews are currently active along the corridor stretching from the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Unit to Conchas Chinas.
These improvements include the repair of street lighting to brighten nighttime walkways and the repainting of building facades and traffic beacons. Additional landscaping work, such as tree pruning and the rehabilitation of supports, is also underway to polish the city’s appearance.
By maintaining these operations around the clock, the municipal government aims to provide a more orderly and secure environment for both the local community and international visitors.
These persistent efforts reflect a strong commitment to returning the city to its steady, welcoming rhythm while ensuring that every neighborhood remains accessible and well-maintained.
