Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – On Sunday, which marked the end of the 2-week-long Semana Santa vacation period, a group of volunteers led by Ryan Donner and Associates stepped up to the task of cleaning up after the national and foreign visitors that came to Puerto Vallarta to enjoy a few days of fun in the sun.
While these visitors brought much welcomed tourism dollars and pesos into our local economy, they also left a lot of trash behind, which made it the perfect time to organize a community clean-up.
Cleaning up Puerto Vallarta’s rivers and beaches not only protects animals, fish, birds, and plant life from the risks that trash brings, but also sends a message to others: that we care about our community. So, Ryan and his team called on family, friends and volunteers to join them in picking up the trash along the banks of the Rio Cuale from El Caloso to the ocean.
On Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 9:00 am, a group of 25 volunteers met at the Ryan Donner & Associates office, which is perched on the banks of the Rio Cuale at Insurgentes 108-1 on the south side of Puerto Vallarta, where they were equipped with all the tools they would need for the clean-up campaign.
Once fully equipped, the group followed the river to the beach, picking up all kinds of garbage, like plastic bags and bottles, aluminum cans, broken glass, tires, etc. – and making a few new friends along the way.
By the time they had finished, the volunteers had accumulated 10 XXL bags of trash and the well-deserved feeling of personal satisfaction that comes from helping make the world a better place for our children and the community of Puerto Vallarta.
