Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – SEAPAL Vallarta is embarking on a new phase of public works, with a substantial investment of over 131 million pesos aimed at strengthening the city’s water and sanitation infrastructure.
This effort, part of a larger plan to ensure a more reliable and secure water supply for residents and tourists, follows a successful first round of projects earlier this year.
The initiative, supported by funding from the National Water Commission (Conagua), will focus on modernizing key systems across the city. According to Carlos Ruiz, General Director of SEAPAL Vallarta, the projects were made possible through the support of Mayor Luis Munguía, who helped secure the necessary funds. The goal is to enhance the quality of service for all Vallartenses.
The new package of public works includes several high-impact projects designed to improve water storage and distribution, as well as the wastewater and sanitation networks.
• Tank Upgrades: The Conchas Chinas 2 and Agua Azul tanks will be rehabilitated, boosting their capacity and efficiency.
• Sewer System Improvements: The sanitary sewer network is being expanded in the Vista de la Bahía neighborhood. Additionally, old sub-collectors and main lines are being replaced on Grandes Lagos Avenue and Aquiles Serdán Street in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood.
• Collector and Water Line Work: The Centro-Norte Collector on Belice Street will be upgraded, and the treated water line in the Marina Vallarta subdivision will be extended. The Conchas Chinas 1 sump will also undergo rehabilitation.
These projects are part of the PROAGUA program, a cooperative effort where the federal government provides 60% of the funding, and SEAPAL Vallarta contributes the remaining 40%. This partnership model is key to making these significant upgrades possible.
These new projects build upon an existing $57.4 million peso investment from earlier in 2025, which focused on increasing the production of drinking water. Together, these initiatives show SEAPAL’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable water system for the people of Puerto Vallarta.
