Puerto Vallarta, México – SEAPAL Vallarta has announced an extensive schedule of events to honor World Water Day 2026, centering on the theme “Where water flows, equality grows.” This year’s initiative, supported by Mayor Luis Munguía and Director Carlos Ruiz, aims to deepen the community’s connection to environmental stewardship through a blend of education, art, and physical activity.
The commemorative week begins on Tuesday, March 17, with an invitation for the SEAPAL Vallarta Board of Directors to tour the agency’s primary facilities. This opening event is designed to provide transparency regarding the technical processes and daily efforts required to manage the region’s water resources.
Youth engagement takes center stage mid-week with several creative competitions. On Wednesday, March 18, Federal Secondary School 60 will host the “Draw and Flow in Equality” contest, showcasing artistic interpretations of water conservation from local students. Simultaneously, younger participants from 21 de Marzo Primary School will participate in a sustainable fashion show titled “Fashion That Flows with Equality,” where students will debut original outfits crafted entirely from recycled materials.
The momentum continues through the end of the week with high-energy activities for all ages. On Thursday, March 19, the Tenochtitlán Kindergarten will host a friendly “World Cup” soccer event, followed by a Water Rally at the CECyTEJ Ixtapa campus on Friday, March 20. These events are designed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility through teamwork and recreation.
The week culminates in the highly anticipated SEAPAL Vallarta 2026 Race on Sunday, March 22. Starting at 7:00 am at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Unit, the event offers both a 21-kilometer half marathon for seasoned athletes and a 5-kilometer course for casual runners and families. Both distances feature men’s and women’s categories to ensure an inclusive environment for all participants.
Registration for the race is priced at $450.00 and can be completed online at ChronoSport.mx. Every participant will receive a runner’s kit, which includes a commemorative t-shirt, an official race number, and a finisher’s medal. Athletes can collect their kits from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, March 20, at the SEAPAL headquarters in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood, or from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 21, at La Isla Shopping Village.
