SEAPAL Vallarta Drawing Contest Winners

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – On August 13, the mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Arturo Dávalos Peña, awarded the winners of the SEAPAL Vallarta “Summer at Home, Caring for Water” Children’s Drawing Contest in a simple, but joyful, ceremony.

Accompanied by Santiago de Jesús Centeno Ulín, the head of SEAPAL Vallarta operations, Dávalos Peña congratulated the competition’s three winners, and all of the children who, through their participation, shared how they and their families care for and conserve this vital resource in their homes.

He recognized the parents who encouraged their children to participate in the contest and, in turn, for encouraging creativity as a tool of expression during the pandemic, as well as for instilling in them values that will contribute to promoting awareness of the need to conserve drinking water.

After deliberating the 34 contest entries, the jury, which was made up of local artists Rolando López and Kika Gómez, the drawings submitted by Joshua Aziel Ramírez Ramírez, Kenan Fernando Paz McFarren, and Erick Santiago Itzael Salcedo García were selected as the top three winners, respectively.

The winners were awarded a bicycle, and as stipulated in the contest rules, their drawings will be part of the organization’s Water Culture programs and campaigns.

At the ceremony, it was announced that the children whose drawings came in from 4th to 13th place also deserve recognition, so they will each receive a school kit to be delivered in the coming days by the Water Culture Headquarters headed by Fernanda García Rodríguez.

The children who won honorable mention are: Maya Sofía Camarena Cortés, Alan Rigoberto Navarro Salcedo, Naomi Rodríguez del Real, Francisco Gómez Minjares, Johana Ximena Naranjo Ávila, Regina Alex Pérez Lomelí, Nicole Reyes Maurer, Santiago López Cibrián, Camila Piedra Pastor and Viviana Vázquez Romero.
