Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – SEAPAL Vallarta has once again earned certification for the sanitary quality of its drinking water, marking 35 consecutive years of meeting strict national safety standards. The recognition confirms the reliability of the city’s water system and reinforces public confidence in the quality of water delivered to homes, businesses, and visitors.
The certification was granted by the Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks of the State of Jalisco (COPRISJAL), an authority responsible for ensuring that public water systems meet established health requirements. This latest approval highlights Puerto Vallarta as a leading example of dependable public utility management in Mexico.
Mayor Luis Munguía formally received the certification from SEAPAL General Director Carlos Ruiz during a presentation that underscored the importance of ongoing investment and planning. The mayor noted that maintaining consistent water quality over more than three decades reflects a long-term vision to modernize infrastructure and address historical system needs.

He praised SEAPAL’s technical and operational teams for their dedication, recognizing the daily work required to maintain strict standards. According to the mayor, delivering safe drinking water year-round remains a top priority for the city, and continued improvements to production and distribution systems are essential to meeting that goal.
Maintaining this level of performance carries benefits beyond public health. The continued certification supports Puerto Vallarta’s reputation as a dependable destination for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Reliable access to safe drinking water plays a key role in supporting tourism, economic growth, and overall quality of life.
SEAPAL remains the only public utility in the state of Jalisco to hold this specific sanitary certification and is among a small group of agencies across Mexico that have sustained such a record for so many years. The certification confirms that the water supply meets strict Mexican Official Standards governing both chemical and bacteriological safety for human consumption.
The recognition also extends beyond the city’s main urban areas. In addition to the central water network, SEAPAL secured renewed certification for the water systems serving the town of Las Palmas and the Ecoterra subdivision. This ensures that safe, potable water reaches communities across the municipality, from established neighborhoods to outlying areas.
With 35 consecutive years of certification, SEAPAL Vallarta continues to demonstrate a consistent commitment to safety, modernization, and reliable service – strengthening Puerto Vallarta’s standing as a community that places the well-being of its residents and visitors at the forefront.
