
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The SEAPAL Vallarta 2025 Race, a key event in the city’s World Water Day celebrations, concluded last Sunday with a remarkable turnout. Over a thousand runners gathered at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Complex, ready to tackle the course that stretched through the northern hotel zone.
Mayor Luis Munguía’s presence at the early morning start underscored the city’s support for the event. During the awards ceremony, Carlos Ruiz, General Director of the organization, acknowledged the impressive participation and spirited atmosphere. He also took the opportunity to emphasize the critical issue of global water scarcity, highlighting the need for increased awareness and action.
In the highly competitive Half Marathon (21K), Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipkorir Kosgei secured first place in the men’s category, followed by Gesabwa Rodgers Ondati and Adrián Uribe López. In the women’s division, Isabel Guadalupe Oropeza from Tonalá emerged victorious, with Fanny Jacqueline Oropeza and Anahí Rivera Olmedo claiming second and third positions, respectively.
The 5K race also delivered exciting results. Alexis Denin Dulin, a runner of French origin, led the men’s pack, with Carlos Arcadia Vargas and José Omar Villegas Mendiola close behind. In the women’s category, Andrea Gutierrez González from Jalisco took first place, followed by Ilse Márquez Quijano and Gabriela Anahi Villegas Mendiola.
The event not only showcased impressive athletic achievements but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of water conservation. It reinforced the strong connection between sports and community in Puerto Vallarta, solidifying the race’s standing as a significant local sporting event.
