Puerto Vallarta is making significant progress in addressing its water challenges. Following Mayor Luis Munguía’s guidance, the first 100 days of Carlos Ruiz’s administration at SEAPAL Vallarta have seen over 18 million pesos invested in six key water and drainage projects. These improvements, funded through the National Water Commission’s (Conagua) PRODDER program, signal a positive shift for residents and visitors alike.
These initial efforts represent the start of a larger plan to modernize the city’s water infrastructure, fulfilling commitments to the community and improving service quality. Several neighborhoods are already seeing tangible results. In Pitillal Centro, the wastewater sub-collector on 20 de Noviembre Street has been completely rehabilitated, improving sanitation for the area. A similar repair was completed on 24 de Febrero Street in Villa de Guadalupe.

Drinking water lines have also received much-needed attention. Multiple streets in Emiliano Zapata now have upgraded lines, ensuring better flow and reliability. Similar improvements have been made on Alemania Street in Lomas del Coapinole and Rivera del Río in El Remance. The project in Lomas del Coapinole included rehabilitation and recalibration of the Alemania Street line, further optimizing its performance.
Perhaps most impactful is the switch from biodigesters to a modern sanitary drainage system in Campestre Las Cañadas. This infrastructure upgrade offers a more sustainable and efficient solution for the community.
Carlos Ruiz emphasized that these projects are just the beginning. The administration is dedicated to modernizing the entire water and drainage system, exceeding citizen expectations and providing a reliable water supply for years to come. These advancements promise a brighter, more sustainable future for Puerto Vallarta.
