Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a move to boost environmental protection efforts, staff from Puerto Vallarta’s Environmental Sustainability Directorate recently completed a specialized Snake Handling course in Bucerías, Nayarit. This essential training, provided by Cascabel Consultores, equips municipal employees with the expertise needed to ensure the safety and well-being of the diverse creatures inhabiting the bay.
The comprehensive course empowered participants with crucial knowledge and practical skills for the secure and responsible handling of snakes. With this knowledge, staff will be better prepared to manage encounters safely, reduce the risk of snake bites, and protect people, pets and wildlife.
Beyond handling techniques, the training also educated staff on various types of venoms, including those associated with creatures like the brown recluse spider and the rattlesnake, deepening their understanding of potential wildlife encounters. The opportunity for this valuable training was made possible through the support of RECOZ.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand the directorate’s capabilities. In the coming days, these dedicated collaborators will further enhance their skills by participating in courses focused on the handling of sea turtles and crocodiles. These upcoming sessions underscore the Luis Munguía administration’s commitment to safeguarding these iconic species and promoting a healthy ecosystem.
Through these concerted actions, the Environmental Sustainability Directorate is demonstrating its unwavering dedication to protecting our region’s natural heritage and fostering sustainable practices for the benefit of all.
