Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The Puerto Vallarta International Airport saw an unexpected surge in arrivals of both flights and passengers during the month of June, after a marginal growth of barely 1 percent was registered in May.
Figures released last weekend revealed a significant rise in the arrival of flights and passengers that will continue throughout the month of July, signaling a busy summer season.
On Saturday, July 1, the international airport shared by Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit had a good day, with the arrival of 74 flights from cities such as Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Seattle, as well as from Tijuana, Monterrey, Aguascalientes, Mexico City, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí, among other important places in the national market.
Over the weekend, the staff of the different areas of the international airport were very busy with the continuous arrivals at the local air terminal.
The flights were landing continuously, so the runway at the international airport was pretty busy compared to the month of May when there were fewer arrivals – except for last weekend, which showed progress with new frequencies and the addition of flights from Canadian cities like Edmonton and Abbotsford.
The benefits of these new flights and frequencies extended to taxi services that transferred visitors to traditional hotels in the Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit region, as well as Airbnb and private condominiums, which also saw an unexpected tourism surge.
It should be noted that during the past weekend the presence of tourism was reflected, mainly in places such as the Malecón, Marina Vallarta, and the Puerto Vallarta Romantic Zone of the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood.
MORE FLIGHTS
In the month of July, the international airport will be receiving more than 2,000 flights from national and foreign cities, as confirmed by Luis Villaseñor Nolasco, director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, who stated that in the month of June, about 1,700 flights landed.
