US Citizens Voting from Mexico 2020

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In the upcoming U.S. elections EVERY VOTE will be important so, if you are an American citizen living in Mexico, fill out and send in your ballot as soon as it arrives. The U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico website recently posted a few important dates to keep in mind when voting in the 2020 U.S. elections from Mexico:

November 3: The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico will collect ballots until at least 10:30 am on November 3 for delivery to the United States via diplomatic pouch. (In Hermosillo, ballots must be received by 2:00 pm on October 30.) Your ballot must be completed and signed according to your state’s instructions, addressed to your local election office, and have sufficient postage or be in a postage-paid envelope.

All ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day.

Please check with your local election office to determine the date by which your ballot must arrive or be postmarked. Please note that it can take 10 days or longer for mail to reach its destination if sent by the Embassy or a Consulate.

Thirty-one states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands, permit you to send your ballot via fax or email. Review the FWAB State Transmission Methods Map for more information.

November 2: Note that the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico will be closed on November 2 (Dia de los Muertos).

October 29: If you plan on dropping off your ballot at a Consular Agency, it must be received no later than October 29. Not all consular agencies are accepting ballots – please reach out to yours to confirm. (Click HERE to see the services currently available at various U.S. Consular offices in Mexico.)
