Vallarta and Fresno Forge Ahead with Educational Partnership

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The government of Puerto Vallarta recently welcomed Dr. Carole Goldsmith, Chancellor of the State Center Community College District (SCCCD) from Fresno, California. Her visit solidified an international educational alliance aimed at fostering growth and opportunity for students and faculty alike.

The SCCCD is a highly regarded educational system in California. It includes four community colleges – Fresno City College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College, and Madera Community College – along with two educational centers, Madera Community College Center at Oakhurst and the Career & Technology Center. This extensive network is dedicated to providing outstanding educational opportunities and creating secure, inclusive learning environments that prepare students for success and global competitiveness.

Dr. Goldsmith’s visit highlighted the role of education and cultural exchange in driving progress. This strengthened bilateral relationship began with previous visits by Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Munguía to Fresno, establishing the foundation for these important collaborations.

During her visit, Dr. Goldsmith engaged in productive discussions with officials from the Jalisco Higher Technological Institute. These meetings focused on developing academic alliances that will benefit young people in both cities. Ángel Marcial Carrillo, manager of Gobierno Inteligente, confirmed that “A collaboration agreement was reached to promote an exchange of professors and students.”

The tour of the Vallarta campus included Councilwoman Laurel Carrillo, Youth Director Herova Olmos, and the manager of Gobierno Inteligente. Through such initiatives, the “Government of Good” demonstrates its commitment to a global vision for education and its dedication to building partnerships that expand access to knowledge and international cooperation.

This alliance promises to open new avenues for academic and cultural enrichment for students and educators in both Puerto Vallarta and Fresno.
