Vallarta Crews Collected 4,624 Tons of Garbage from April 10-17

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – With the aim that tourists and Vallartans could enjoy a clean destination during the Easter vacation period, the Directorate of Municipal Public Services reinforced the tasks of garbage collection in neighborhoods, beaches and tourist areas, as well as cleaning and maintaining public areas throughout of the city, achieving a clean balance in the first week of these holidays.

Following the instructions of Mayor Luis Alberto Michel Rodríguez, the agency added special work crews throughout the city, who worked 24 hours a day from Thursday through Sunday as they were the dates of greatest influx of vacationers, which led to a considerable increase in the generation and collection of waste.

In a preliminary count of the actions undertaken, a total of 4,624 tons of garbage were picked up from April 10 to 17, an increase of a little more than a thousand tons of trash that is normally removed from the colonias.

On the tourist strip, 100.1 tons of garbage were removed, while 42.9 tons were collected on beaches and 71.4 on the Malecón. In addition, in the dumpsters installed throughout the tourist areas, 30.6 tons were collected and 3.27 tons were collected by the trash patrols carried out on the avenues.

Add to that the daily cleaning of different areas in the center of the city, such as the main plaza, the Malecón and the sidewalks in the downtown area. The municipal dependency also maintained their work for prompt attention and provision of services to the community.
