Vallarta Garden Club Planter Maintenance & Mimosas Feb 3

Puerto Vallarta’s streets are set to receive a refreshing touch of green as the Vallarta Garden Club’s “Weeding Warriors” gather for their monthly maintenance initiative. On Monday, February 3rd, from 9-11 am, volunteers will meet on Francisco Rodríguez (the Pier street) in front of Dee’s Coffee Company, ready to enhance the beauty of the city’s public spaces.

Donning their signature pink shirts, the volunteers will begin their work along the Pier street, tending to the flourishing gardens there. Their efforts will then extend to the planter boxes along Olas Altas, continuing past Francisco Rodríguez. (Archie’s Wok graciously maintains their own garden, allowing the Weeding Warriors to focus on other areas.)

This event is part of the Garden Club’s ongoing “winter spruce-up” project, a dedicated effort to care for the city’s 500 planter boxes. Volunteers will trim bougainvilleas, clip shrubs, and remove any unwanted weeds, ensuring these green oases remain healthy and attractive. New volunteers are always welcome, and the club encourages residents and visitors alike to join their ranks.

The Vallarta Garden Club is a registered Mexican non-profit organization, relying on the generosity of its members and the community. Their motto, Creciendo Juntos (“Growing Together”), reflects their commitment to collaborative community projects, fostering cultural understanding, and creating beautiful green spaces. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and go directly towards purchasing plants and soil, helping the club achieve its goals.

Garden Club volunteers are encouraged to bring a friend or two (and encourage THEM to join!), and their own gardening tools, such as trowels, clippers, and gloves, though the club has some available for loan. More pink shirts are also on order for the ever-growing team. Beyond the gardening, the club fosters a strong sense of community, with social events held throughout the year for its members.

The Garden Club welcomes new members and encourages current members to renew their support. Those interested in joining or renewing can do so by clicking HERE. To contribute to their important work and help keep Puerto Vallarta blooming, donations can be made by clicking HERE.

The Vallarta Garden Club takes pride in its civic contributions, working alongside other organizations to create new garden spaces and maintain their 500 planter boxes located around the city.
