Vallarta Opens Collection Centers to Aid Flood-Affected Families

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta’s municipal government has established a network of collection centers throughout the city to provide aid to families severely impacted by recent heavy rains and flooding. These centers are now accepting a wide range of essential supplies, including food, hygiene items, and other basic necessities.

Mayor Luis Munguía emphasized the importance of community support, stating, “Flooding has damaged homes and disrupted lives. These centers will help us get essential goods directly into the hands of people who need them most.” He also noted that “solidarity and swift action” are crucial in the current situation.

The Municipal DIF System is managing the collection efforts and is seeking donations of specific items. Nonperishable foods are particularly needed, such as rice, beans, lentils, chickpeas, sugar, salt, cooking oil, instant coffee, and canned goods like tuna, sardines, and vegetables.

Additionally, there is a demand for hygiene and personal care products, including bar soap, toilet paper, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and feminine hygiene products. For babies, donations of baby formula, packaged baby food, diapers in all sizes, and wet wipes are greatly appreciated.

The collection points are open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm at several key locations. These include the Vallarta DIF central offices on Paseo de las Palmas, the Municipal Presidency in downtown Puerto Vallarta, the Municipal Administrative Unit (UMA) on Avenida Mezquital, the Ixtapa Delegation Offices on Independencia Street, the El Pitillal Delegation on 5 de Mayo Street, and the La Lija Office on Pablo Franco Street.

For more information or to volunteer with distribution efforts, residents are encouraged to call the Municipal DIF office at (322) 225-9936.

The initiative provides a direct way for residents to contribute to the recovery efforts and assist their neighbors. The mayor expressed his appreciation for the generous contributions already made by residents, saying their “generosity shows the true spirit of Vallarta.”

He confirmed that officials will continue to monitor the situation and may open additional sites to meet the needs of the community.
