Vallarta Police Officers to Receive Increased Benefits

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Mayor Luis Munguía announced significant benefits for the city’s police force, including the integration of nearly 200 temporary officers into the general payroll and the disbursement of a previously approved bonus. These measures aim to recognize the crucial role officers play in maintaining Puerto Vallarta’s reputation as one of Mexico’s safest cities.

Starting in the next two weeks, approximately 200 police officers who were previously on a temporary payroll will be shifted to the City Council’s general payroll. This move grants them full access to legal benefits, including state pensions, providing greater financial security and peace of mind for them and their families.

Mayor Munguía highlighted that this achievement is a direct result of efficient resource management during his administration. “This good administration has allowed each and every one of you to now be part of the general payroll, which you have been denied access to for years, thus providing you with legal security, stability, and peace of mind for you and your families,” stated Mayor Munguía.

In addition to the payroll change, a bonus approved by the City Council in October 2024 will also be paid out within the next two weeks. José Juan Velázquez Hernández, the Secretary General of the City Council, affirmed these initiatives, noting that improving police conditions has been a priority since the start of the current administration. This commitment was also demonstrated a few months ago with the provision of new equipment, including 30 patrol cars, 10 motorcycles, and 10 ATVs, to assist officers in their duties.

These actions underscore the city’s dedication to supporting its police force, acknowledging their tireless efforts and sacrifices in ensuring the safety and order of Puerto Vallarta.
