Vallarta’s Summer Tourism Soars with Record Occupancy and Spending

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – As the summer holidays draw to a close, Puerto Vallarta is wrapping up the season with impressive achievements. From July 7th to August 1st, the city’s hotels welcomed over 250,000 guests, reflecting an average occupancy rate of 78.67%. This marks a significant 8.17% increase from last year’s 70.5% occupancy rate, signaling a strong upward trend for the destination.

Nearly 240,000 tourists chose to stay in hotels, each spending an average of 14,620 pesos. This has generated an economic impact exceeding 3.5 billion pesos for the city. Additionally, another 50,000 visitors opted for digital rental platforms, boasting a 56% occupancy rate and contributing over 600 million pesos to the local economy.

Among the total number of tourists, 71.5% came from within Mexico, 22% from the United States, 5.2% from Canada, and 1.3% from other international destinations.

Luis Villaseñor, director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, remarked on the importance of national tourism, stating, “We know that the influx of tourism during the summer is bolstered by the national market, highlighting the value of our promotional efforts across the country.”

With the strong results seen in the first half of the year and these outstanding summer figures, Puerto Vallarta is poised to continue breaking historical records in hotel occupancy, tourist influx, and economic impact as 2024 progresses.
