Puerto Vallarta has solidified its standing as a premier destination with the reactivation of Volaris’ direct flight from Monterrey, now operating daily. This restoration marks a significant stride in the city’s ongoing efforts to expand domestic air travel, evidenced by the 355 domestic frequencies scheduled for April.
To commemorate the reinstated route, airline and destination representatives held a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, officially launching the daily service from Monterrey. The flights utilize Airbus 320 aircraft, each accommodating 180 passengers, thereby adding 5,400 monthly seats to Puerto Vallarta’s capacity.
This development broadens Volaris’ service to Puerto Vallarta, now accessible from eight airports across Mexico, including Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Tijuana. Looking ahead, Volaris’ 2025 expansion plans include a new route from Morelia, Michoacán, operating three times weekly and adding over 2,000 monthly seats.
These enhanced air connections highlight the strong confidence of travel partners and the escalating demand for travel to Puerto Vallarta. The Puerto Vallarta International Airport has reported a 19% increase in domestic air frequencies compared to April of the previous year and an 18 percent increase from the prior month, alongside a 4% overall frequency increase year-over-year.
The daily Monterrey-Puerto Vallarta route complements the existing 108 monthly flights from Nuevo León’s capital, affirming Puerto Vallarta’s established position as a preferred vacation spot for Monterrey residents. This expansion underscores the city’s continuous growth and appeal within the domestic travel market.
