WestJet’s Winter Schedule Connects Calgary and Guadalajara

Guadalajara, Mexico – Travelers looking to explore the beautiful state of Jalisco will soon have another convenient option, as WestJet, Canada’s second-largest airline, launches a new direct flight connecting Calgary, Alberta to Guadalajara. This exciting development, announced by the Jalisco Ministry of Tourism, is set to begin on December 7, 2025, further solidifying Jalisco’s appeal to Canadian visitors.

The new seasonal service will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Sundays, until April 12, 2026. Passengers will travel comfortably aboard a Boeing 737, which accommodates 174 people. This addition brings the total number of direct flights between Canada and Guadalajara to four, showcasing the growing bond in air travel between the two regions.

Jalisco’s Secretary of Tourism, Michelle Fridman Hirsch, expressed her enthusiasm about the strengthened ties with the Canadian market. “We are very pleased to see how the growing connection between the Canadian market and Jalisco is stronger than ever,” she stated. “This is a great opportunity to strengthen our ties, highlight the cultural closeness we share, and reaffirm something fundamental: we welcome Canadian travelers to Jalisco.”

WestJet brings three decades of experience to this new route, with a strong base in Calgary and a network that serves over 27 million passengers annually. Their commitment to expanding global connections aligns perfectly with Jalisco’s goal of attracting more international visitors to its diverse destinations, including Guadalajara, Chapala, Puerto Vallarta, Costalegre, and various “Magical Towns.”

John Weatherill, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of WestJet, highlighted the airline’s dedication to its hub in Calgary. He affirmed that WestJet is “committed to offering convenient connections and exceptional value, just as our passengers have come to expect.”

This new WestJet route is part of a significant expansion of air service between Canada and Jalisco. Starting in December of this year, Air Transat will begin direct Montreal-Guadalajara flights with two weekly services. Additionally, Air Canada will launch its first-ever operations to Guadalajara in November 2025, offering three direct flights per week to Toronto.

These new routes, combined with increased frequencies from Air Canada, Air Transat, and Flair Airlines, are projected to boost Jalisco’s annual arrival seats to over 775,000.

Furthermore, next winter, Porter Airlines will introduce three routes from Canada to Puerto Vallarta, connecting to Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton. This will expand Puerto Vallarta Airport’s reach to 17 Canadian cities, contributing to a total of 37 international and 13 domestic destinations served by 18 airlines.

This surge in air connectivity underscores Jalisco’s commitment to providing accessible and appealing travel options for Canadians, fostering cultural exchange and economic growth.
