Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta continues to see a surge in popularity, with the Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport welcoming an average of 14,000 travelers daily this summer. Passenger traffic has experienced a remarkable 17% increase during the first half of this year, thanks in part to the addition of more domestic flights.
Cryshtian José Amador Lizardi, the Director General of the airport operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, expressed excitement about the newly introduced routes from Mexicali and Culiacán, which have contributed to the airport’s ongoing recovery.
“Comparing these numbers to the same period in 2022 clearly reflects the growth, expansion, and consolidation of domestic routes for our destination. Currently, the airport connects with 14 domestic markets, including two new routes introduced by Volaris as part of their expansion, making it a fantastic choice for summer travel,” said Mr. Lizardi.
He also mentioned that during the current vacation season, they are anticipating approximately 14,000 daily passengers (visitors), which showcases the collective efforts of the tourism sector and the significant impact of this tourist region. In fact, they are well on track to surpass last year’s total passenger numbers.
Mr. Lizardi highlighted an impressive growth of around 17% in both domestic and international passengers during the first half of the year, demonstrating the airport’s resilience and Puerto Vallarta’s popularity as a beach vacation destination.
