Puerto Vallarta Expecting Over 1,300 Flights This Month

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – According to the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Promotion and Advertising Trust, more than 1,300 flights are expected to arrive at the Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport this month, thanks to the operations of 6 national and 9 international airlines.

It is worth mentioning that Puerto Vallarta continues working to recover air connectivity. In August alone, air passenger traffic, both in the national and international markets, was 353,900, 2% more than in 2019; while in 2020 it was a little more than 119,000, as reported by the Pacific Airport Group (GAP).

Likewise, from January to August 2021, the accumulated passenger traffic was almost 2.5 million. This represents a 43.9% increase compared to 2020, while in 2019 the accumulated total for the same period exceeded three and a half million passengers.

For August 2021, the 12 Mexican airports of GAP registered a decrease in total passenger traffic of 1.9%, compared to the same month of 2019. The airports of Tijuana, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta presented an increase of 13.8%, 8.9%, and 2.0%, respectively.

In relation to international travel restrictions, the United States continues to request a negative COVID-19 test from all passengers who intend to travel to that country; while Canada has reopened international flights for people who are vaccinated and who meet certain conditions issued by the Government of that country.

It is important to highlight that the Puerto Vallarta International Airport has just been recertified with the Airport Sanitary accreditation for correctly complying with the sanitary protocols, guidelines and recommendations proposed by the Aviation Recovery Working Group (CART) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
