Enrique Alfaro Reopens the Vallarta Regional Hospital

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – With the mission of providing comprehensive medical care to those who seek it, the governor of the state, Enrique Alfaro, re-inaugurated the Regional Hospital of Puerto Vallarta last weekend.

He indicated that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, care was never suspended and neither were the works, around 120 million pesos were invested in this institution just in its construction. “It has already exceeded a little, they just gave me the update, 120 million pesos. And let me tell you something else, you know how much the payroll that we have today costs, it has doubled, 115 percent, because what is the use of having a very nice hospital if we don’t have the necessary personnel, we doubled and operating this payroll costs 146 million pesos,” he explained.

“It is expensive to do the work, but it is more expensive for the hospital not to work. There is no better investment than in the health of our people and today we have a decent hospital that’s prepared to provide service. We are going to continue reinforcing the supply of medicines, so that there is no shortage, we are all going to make a great effort so that this hospital becomes a space that once again demonstrates that betting on people’s well-being is the best path,” he added.

For his part, the Secretary of Health, Fernando Petersen Aranguren, reported that the growth in human resources has meant expanding the number of workers by 115 percent, 30 percent in the hospitalization area, going from 53 to 67 beds currently; the outpatient clinic increased from 8 to 12 offices, the obstetrics area increased from 6 to 12, with which gynecological and obstetric care is being reinforced.

The newborn area is completely new and has 12 new beds and 4 extra beds for isolated patients, after learning about pandemic protocols.

It was celebrated that in health region 8 there are zero maternal deaths. Likewise, the Governor accompanied the vector personnel of the Ministry of Health, since prevention, information and timely actions lead to zero cases of dengue in Puerto Vallarta.

The complete reconstruction by David Zamora, secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP), can be seen from the operating rooms, the emergency area, obstetric surgery, neonatal intensive care, pediatric hospitalization, intensive care, the nursing center, laboratories, x-rays, admissions, machine room, external consultation, bathrooms, dressing rooms, general painting maintenance, exteriors, laundry and more. The new areas correspond to the kitchen, air conditioning areas and the residence building, which dignifies the stay of the doctors and nurses who deliver their work and hours of service for the benefit of the communities.
