Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – According to the latest report released by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), in the first nine months of 2022, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) welcomed more than 4.5 million passengers. This represents an increase of more than 64% over the 2,752,000 passengers that arrived in 2021.
In September alone, the number of domestic passengers that arrived at Puerto Vallarta’s Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport was 212,000, 48.4% more than the 142,800 that visited in 2021; while the international market brought 159,300 travelers, up 36.7% over last year’s 116,500 foreign visitors.
Adding both markets (national and international) together, PVR welcomed more than 371,000 passengers in September 2022 compared to the 259,000 visitors in the same period of 2021.
The total number of terminal passengers at all 12 of GAP’s Mexican airports increased by 23.8% in September 2022, compared to the same period of 2019. Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Tijuana and Guadalajara presented an increase in passenger traffic of 54.0%, 47.5%, 37.9% and 11.5% respectively, compared to September 2019.
This month, PVR expects to receive more than 1,600 air operations, a 23% increase over October 2019, when there were 1,343 flights. In addition to this, a new flight is expected from Vancouver, Canada on October 25 with two weekly frequencies that will increase to five in November.
