This Year, Air Tourism to Puerto Vallarta has Increased by 20.4%

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The three airport groups that operate in Mexico, ASUR, OMA and GAP, have had a good year, registering double-digit growth in terms of passengers from January to May 2023. And it is the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) that sets the standard by totaling more than 26 million travelers.

According to reports by the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), the GAP operated 26,218,600 passengers in said period, which compared to the 21,999,100 in the same period of 2022, represented an increase of 19.2%.

Of the total, 14,498,300 were national passengers, above the 12,300,600 in 2022, which represents an increase of 17.9%. While international, there were 11,720,300, 20.8% more than in 2022, which were 9,698,500.

REGIONAL GROWTH

Of the 14 GAP airports, the two with the highest passenger traffic from January to May were Guadalajara, with 7,153,700, and Tijuana, with 5,351,600, with improvements of 21.9% and 12.2%, respectively.

In the case of the international airport that Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit share, there were 3,154,800 passengers, 20.4% more than the same period last year.

Regarding the Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), it reported, only in its Mexican airports, a growth of 16.7% in the first five months of the year, with 18,220,179 passengers, 16.7% more than in 2022, which was 15,618,438. Of this figure, 8,310,948 travelers were national and 9,909,231 were international.

The two ASUR airports with the highest number of traffic were Cancun, with 13,936,913 in the first five months of the year, followed by the international airport of Mérida, with a total of 1,500,261 passengers.

Finally, in the North Central Airport Group (OMA) passenger growth was 21.8%, with 10,386,913 passengers, up from 8,527,623 last year. The busiest airports were Monterrey, with 4,978,340 and Culiacán, with 1,043,284 travelers in the first five months of the year.
