Puerto Vallarta Bolsters Security for Influx of Summer Tourists

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Summer is here and the Puerto Vallarta Citizen Security Commission is stepping up their game to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for both residents and tourists.

Commissioner Rigoberto Flores Parra has directed officers to increase patrols in key areas, including beaches, tourist zones, shopping centers, banks, and neighborhoods. This focus on neighborhoods acknowledges that while tourists are present, many residents also vacation, leaving their homes unattended.

To prevent home burglaries, the Commission encourages participation in neighborhood watch groups, proper home security measures, and communication with neighbors. Officers will be particularly attentive to reports from these groups, as this program has proven successful in deterring crime. They’re also bringing in extra muscle with the Tactical Operations Group to patrol busy areas and commercial zones.

To promote responsible behavior, security actions will be aligned with the Jalisco State mobility law. The Municipal Transit Sub-Directorate’s “Saving Lives” operation will involve random checkpoints throughout the city to deter drunk driving. For those visiting bars or clubs, the Commissioner recommends designating a sober driver to prevent incidents and accidents caused by alcohol consumption.

Public transportation is on their radar too. They’re working with the bus and taxi companies to make sure any problems get reported right away, and officers will be doing regular checks on the busiest routes.

The bottom line? They want everyone – residents and tourists alike – to feel safe. So, they’re asking for a little help. Be a good neighbor, report anything suspicious, and everyone can have a worry-free summer in Puerto Vallarta!
