Puerto Vallarta Advances Waste Management with New Initiatives

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta’s new municipal administration is making strides in addressing the city’s persistent waste management issues. Recent efforts have included the deployment of nine new garbage trucks and community-driven clean-up brigades in neighborhoods such as Pitillal, Mojoneras, and Boca de Tomates, among others.

Understanding that immediate actions were just the beginning, the City Council took a major step forward in an ordinary plenary session held last week. The council approved a groundbreaking initiative to grant a concession for the comprehensive management of the municipality’s solid waste. This concession encompasses public cleaning, collection, transfer, treatment, and final disposal services, signaling a transformative shift in how waste management is handled in PV.

This step signals a transformation in Puerto Vallarta’s public service operations. With the introduction of advanced equipment and optimized processes, the initiative aims to boost the effectiveness and efficiency of waste management across the city. Additionally, the program promises significant reductions in costs related to maintenance, fuel, and other operational expenses, freeing up resources that can be reinvested into the community.

Transparency remains a core element of this new model, with a formal tender process ensuring responsible and accountable contracting. This approach not only builds trust but also assures that every peso invested directly benefits the residents.

By modernizing waste management services, Puerto Vallarta’s administration aims to prevent the service interruptions of the past and to deliver a cleaner, more sustainable environment for all who live in and visit this beloved destination.
