Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Running enthusiasts and environmental advocates alike will come together on Sunday, March 23, as SEAPAL Vallarta hosts its annual World Water Day Half Marathon and 5K Recreational Race. The event promises an exciting blend of athletic challenge, community spirit, and environmental awareness.
Marking its 13th edition for the Half Marathon and 23rd for the 5K, this year’s race serves as the highlight of Puerto Vallarta’s World Water Day celebrations. Observed on March 22, World Water Day 2025 emphasizes the importance of glaciers and the urgent need to protect them from climate change. The race offers participants a meaningful way to support water conservation efforts while enjoying the city’s scenic coastal views.
The 21-kilometer Half Marathon will kick off at 7:00 am, followed by the 5K Recreational Race at 7:10 am. Runners will traverse Puerto Vallarta’s picturesque hotel zone, making for a visually stunning and inspiring course.
Both races feature multiple categories for male and female participants to ensure a fair and inclusive competition. The Half Marathon offers divisions for Free (18-39 years), Master (40-49 years), Veterans (50+), and Vallartense Athlete (for local runners). Meanwhile, the 5K includes categories for youth up to 17 years, along with Free, Master, Veterans, Vallarta Athlete, and specially designated divisions for individuals with disabilities, including wheelchair users and those with visual or hearing impairments.
