ASIPONA Puerto Vallarta Hosts Free Tours of Islas Marías Ferries

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – ASIPONA Puerto Vallarta is inviting locals and visitors to explore the ferries that will soon connect the city directly to the Islas Marías, a unique destination in the Mexican Pacific. The special open-house tours will take place on August 27 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and August 28 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, offering free admission for families, friends, and travelers of all ages.

Participants can enter through Puerto Mágico Plaza and head to Pier #1 at the Cruise Passenger Welcome Center. After security clearance, guests will board the ferry where TURIIMAR representatives will share details about upcoming services, including transportation, lodging, dining, and activities on the islands.

The Islas Marías, once a federal prison for more than a century, have been transformed into an ecotourism destination that blends history, nature, and culture. The largest island, María Madre, offers experiences such as the Site Museum, the Santa María de Guadalupe Church, and Plaza Juárez in Puerto Balleto. Guided tours of the Government House, the Nun’s House, and scenic bike rides around the bay further enrich the visit.

For those seeking adventure, guided excursions include hikes to the island’s lighthouse, ecological walks, bird and reptile observation, and breathtaking viewpoints like Punta Halcones and Chapingo Beach. Visitors can also enjoy evening stargazing sessions at the Celestial Vault, turning the former prison into a place of wonder and discovery.

These August events are a special opportunity to tour the ferries that will soon connect Puerto Vallarta with the Islas Marías. While the vessels remain docked, visitors can step aboard, explore the facilities, and learn more about the travel experience that awaits once regular service begins.
