MiMi Bomba’s Fall Brings Out More Vallarta Heroes

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – A single missed step left MiMi Bomba bruised, humbled, and temporarily unable to walk without help. In this humorous but heartfelt tale, she thanks the friends, Uber driver, chiropractor, and physical therapist who helped her recover while reminding readers to be careful – because accidents can happen in an instant.

Hola Amigas y Amigos!

I had a little slip-and-fall a few months ago. It was not on the cobblestone streets. It was not on slippery tile. It was not at the swimming pool. It was not because I had too many margaritas. I was taken down by one single step down from the kitchen in a friend’s home. Nothing broken, gracias a Dios mio! Just a bruised ass and bruised ego.

I was at a party with amigas, and I was more embarrassed than anything. A darling Guapo helped me up, and sat me on the couch with Felipe, my friend’s chihuahua, where I stayed for the duration of the party. No pain. No discomfort. I was fine. I just sat there and enjoyed everyone fussing over me and bringing me vino tinto y tapas!

Then I tried to get up … and I couldn’t! The pain hit me then, and I could not take a single step on my own. Two of my amigas walked me to the door, put me in an Uber and sent me home. When I got home, the Uber driver (another hero) walked me up the ten steps to my condo, helped me inside, and I went right to bed. As long as I was reclining I was okay. But getting up, walking, doing anything else, I was in terrible pain.

A few days later, I was able to get myself to Zona Z to see Dr. Mark, the wonderful chiropractor at the spa there. He is one of the Super Heroes in this story. I had two sessions with him, and then “graduated” to physical therapy. Dr. Mark helped so much and gave me hope along with the specialized treatments!

The next Super Hero in this story was Jack, an excellent physical therapist with Granby LIfestyle. I knew from his previously caring for Deb Darling, that Jack would come to me. Which he did. Two sessions with Jack in my living room, and I was on my way back to my old self. (And I say “old” in quite the literal sense.) From there, I let my body heal itself. Jack said I likely had tiny tears in my muscles, which would not show up on X-rays.

My muscles healed. The pain went away, but not the embarrassment of falling on my culo in front of friends. I am always careful on the cobblestones, but I have managed (so far) to navigate them safely. It could have been so much worse. The irony is that I had not even had so much as a single sip of wine when I hit the floor. A fall for those of us of a certain age can be life changing – and not in a good way.

So I say to you, as well as to my own self, Cuidate! One moment in time is all it takes. One missed step. One careless moment.

That’s it for today.
I love you all,
MiMi (the Klutz) Bomba
