Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – The Jalisco Tourism Secretariat has issued a statement clarifying recent reports about cruise ship activity in Puerto Vallarta, emphasizing that any service interruptions following the events of February 22 were temporary and that the destination is experiencing a steady return to its standard maritime schedule.
According to the Tourism Secretariat, the statement was released to “clarify and contextualize the information presented, with the aim of offering readers an overview that reflects the operational reality of our destinations.”
Statistical data from the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) supports a narrative of resilience rather than decline. By the end of February 2026, Puerto Vallarta recorded a 15.2% increase in cruise ship arrivals compared to the same period in 2025, alongside a 4.2% rise in passenger volume. These figures suggest that international cruise lines maintain a high level of confidence in the region’s ability to host travelers safely and efficiently.
The recovery extend beyond the docks to the skies as well. Following the events of February 22nd, air connectivity was restored with notable speed. By February 25, both Guadalajara International Airport and Puerto Vallarta International Airport were already operating at 99 percent of their scheduled capacity. Passenger activity also rebounded quickly, with Puerto Vallarta recording 20,948 travelers on February 28 alone.
Cruise operations are also continuing on schedule. The arrival of the Norwegian Bliss in early March marked the beginning of a busy month of cruise activity. Nearly 4,000 passengers disembarked during that visit, representing more than 91 percent of those on board and reflecting continued interest from travelers eager to explore the destination.

Originally, 14 cruise ship arrivals were planned for March. However, Princess Cruises has temporarily adjusted the itineraries of several vessels, canceling three scheduled port calls this week. The line is expected to resume visits to Puerto Vallarta on March 18, bringing the total number of cruise ship arrivals this month to 11.
Tourism officials also highlighted upcoming visits from new ships, including the highly anticipated Brilliant Lady from Virgin Voyages, which is scheduled to dock in Puerto Vallarta on April 22. The addition of new vessels is seen as a positive sign of continued confidence in the destination.
The Tourism Secretariat also addressed the broader challenge posed by negative or inaccurate reports circulating in some media outlets. Officials stressed their commitment to providing verified information and ensuring a balanced understanding of the situation.
Despite the brief disruption in late February, tourism authorities say Puerto Vallarta’s travel and cruise sectors remain active and resilient, with ongoing arrivals and strong visitor interest supporting the region’s economic development.
