Puerto Vallarta residents and visitors are invited to take part in a meaningful community event that combines fitness, family fun, and support for local children. The first edition of the Carrera de Juventudes (Youth Race), organized by the Puerto Vallarta Government, will take place on Sunday, April 26, at 7:00 am at the Unidad Deportiva Agustín Flores Contreras.

This recreational 5-kilometer race is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for all ages and abilities. Participants are encouraged to run, jog, or walk the course, and the event is both family-friendly and pet-friendly, making it an ideal way for the community to come together for a shared purpose.
Proceeds from the race will support the second phase of renovations at the Child Development Assistance Centers (CADI) operated by the Puerto Vallarta DIF System. These centers provide essential childcare and early education services for families throughout the city.
During a press conference announcing the event, Councilwoman Erika García Rubio, president of the Recreation and Sports Committee, emphasized the importance of creating opportunities that encourage healthy lifestyles while supporting important community programs. She highlighted that the race offers a chance for residents to enjoy physical activity while contributing to a meaningful cause.
Fabiola Arreola Álvarez, Coordinator of Equity and Equality for the Ciudad de las Mujeres program of DIF Vallarta, shared updates on the progress of the childcare center improvements. Representing DIF President María de Jesús “Lucky” Michel, she explained that funds raised through the race will help ensure continued progress on renovations and equipment upgrades that benefit children and families.
High schools and universities across Puerto Vallarta are also being invited to participate through the Youth Department, encouraging students to take part in community service while enjoying a fun and healthy activity.
The race is open to the public, with a registration fee of 350 pesos. Participants will receive a race kit that includes the official event t-shirt. Registration closes on April 17, and those interested can sign up by sending a message via WhatsApp to 322-150-9839.
To ensure a safe and well-organized event, the race will be coordinated by the Municipal Sports Council (COMUDE) along with the Civil Protection and Fire Department, providing security and support throughout the course.
With its focus on community spirit, health, and support for local families, the Carrera de Juventudes offers a rewarding way for residents to make a difference while enjoying an active morning in Puerto Vallarta.
