‘Mujeres Valientes’ Film Production Begins in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is once again stepping into the spotlight as a prime destination for film and television production with the arrival of the new series Mujeres Valientes (“Brave Women”). The production is currently filming throughout the city, using some of Puerto Vallarta’s most recognizable locations to showcase the area’s natural beauty, culture, and atmosphere to audiences around the world.

Scenes for the series are being filmed along the Malecón, on local beaches, at the Mirador de la Cruz, and inside hotels and neighborhood businesses. Producers say the Puerto Vallarta episode was specifically designed to capture the character and essence of the destination while telling stories centered on perseverance and empowerment.

The series began production in Guadalajara last September and will be filmed entirely within the state of Jalisco. Along with Puerto Vallarta, filming locations include Tequila, Tapalpa, Zapotlanejo, Guachimontones, and Guadalajara as part of a broader effort to highlight the region’s landscapes and cultural identity through cinematic storytelling.

Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Munguía attended the official launch of local filming activities, welcoming the cast and crew and recognizing the importance of audiovisual projects in strengthening the city’s international visibility. Productions of this scale also provide direct economic benefits by hiring local talent, contracting services, and working with regional suppliers.

Paco Solares, general producer of Mujeres Valientes, thanked municipal authorities for their cooperation and support throughout the filming process. Alejandro Tavares, director of the Filma Jalisco program, added that productions like this help encourage film tourism while positioning Puerto Vallarta as a competitive destination for future projects. He also confirmed that discussions are already underway to bring additional productions to the city in 2027.

Produced by the Jalisco-based company Prismáticoos in partnership with Corazón Films, the series reflects a growing movement to expand Mexico’s film and television industry beyond Mexico City. By filming across multiple municipalities, the project aims to create new opportunities for regional talent and businesses while introducing viewers to destinations throughout Jalisco.

Directed by Javier Colinas, Mujeres Valientes is inspired by powerful stories that first gained attention on social media. The production adapts these narratives into cinematic 45-minute episodes designed for streaming platforms and digital audiences. Each standalone episode focuses on women who overcome difficult circumstances and rebuild their lives through determination, courage, and resilience.

The complete project will feature 21 episodes divided into three seasons, with a different lead actress in each story. The first season, consisting of seven episodes, is scheduled to premiere this December on Prisma+, the official streaming platform of Prismáticoos. Additional seasons will follow in the coming years as the series continues to share stories of empowerment with audiences worldwide.
