Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Everyone has a few expressions that instantly get under their skin, and MiMi Bomba is no exception. In this playful rant, she shines a spotlight on some of the sayings, catchphrases, and verbal quirks that leave her shaking her head, proving that sometimes the most irritating things in life are only a few words long.
Hola Amigas y Amigos!
Here are some sayings that don’t mean anything, tick me off, or are just plain stupid, in my never-to-be-humble opinion…
Number one on my Hit Parade is: “It is what it is.” I’m nor sure why I find it annoying, but I do. What does it even mean? Rhetorical question. Don’t even try to answer it.
“Sorry about that,” is NOT an apology. Do not say it. It was meant to be sarcastic when Steve Martin said it 1,000 years ago. If you sincerely want to apologize, just say you’re sorry.
“You know,” inserted in sentences for no reason. I once heard someone say “you know” more than 100 times in about 15 minutes. And I only started counting after the first 20 or so times.
“Like” for no reason. Like, it drives me crazy when, like, someone, like, keeps sticking the word like in where it does not, like, belong and has no meaning! I mean, like, WTF!?
When the only adjective/noun/verb someone has in their vocabulary is the F-word, it’s annoying AF. I’m not a prude, and I have been known to drop an F-bomb here and there sometimes. But when I do, it means something.
“Shut the Front Door.” Just say the word. I know I am tempted to tell someone to Shut the F up on a daily basis. I won’t say who…
That’s enough of that. Enough is enough. It is what it is, and I’m sorry about that! Like, I am having, like, a bad day, you know?

¡Hasta luego!
