Music Under the Stars IAMPV Fundraiser

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Mark your calendar for Sunday, March 1, so you won’t miss an incredible evening of ‘Music Under the Stars’ to benefit IAMPV, a non-profit educational music institute whose mission is to bring the joy of music to children and young adults in the greater Banderas Bay area.

The Founding Director of IAMPV (Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta) is Daniel Oliveros, a conductor, woodwind player, and teacher from Monterrey, who believes in the value of music education and is dedicated to developing other professional musicians in Puerto Vallarta.

IAMPV is currently providing over 80 children, many of whom are scholarship students, with education and performance opportunities through a variety of programs and instruction. Classes include stringed, wind, brass, and percussion instruments, along with Big Band and choral music.

The school also provides students with free instruments, as they are too expensive for many of the parents in the community.

The March 1 event will feature all types of music, from Jazz and classical to traditional Mexican music, and even Rock/Pop. Some of IAMPV’s students groups will be showcased, including the beginning orchestra, the string quartet, and the Salty Paw Jazz group.

There will also be performances by a variety of professional musicians who are affiliated with IAMPV – a classical trio (Klaus Liebetanz, Jean-Guy Comeau and Mary MacLachlan), Patsy Meyer, “Tajin,” and a Rock and Roll group playing music for dancing.

Celebrating all of the music of the Bay of Banderas, the ‘Music Under the Stars’ event will be held at the school’s new home, The Gourmet Station, which they share with the University of Guadalajara culinary school. It is located at the N.E. corner of Libramiento and Francisco Villa and has plenty of parking.

Tickets, available at iampv.org or at the door, are $600 Pesos and include a welcome drink plus pizza. There will also be a cash bar, a 50/50 draw, a silent auction of some local artists’ works, and lots of great music for dancing! Come out and have some fun, take a tour of IAMPV’s new school, and support music education for the children of Puerto Vallarta.

Event proceeds will help the Institute of Musical Arts finance the educational and musical projects that comprise it, like the Vallarta Symphony Orchestra, Flute Ensemble and the Salty Paw Jazz Orchestra, which is a student Big Band group that has been performing throughout the entire Banderas Bay area.

If you cannot attend, but believe that music education is important and would like to give the gift of music to a child, donations can be made online at iampv.org.
