Broadway Star David Sabella Stars in Three Shows at Act2PV

Puerto Vallarta’s ‘holy trinity of entertainment,’ this season is a delightful mix of Broadway, Drag and Tribute Shows. Of course, there are scores of other choices too, but let’s talk about Broadway. Many of us are utterly star-struck as we worship at the altar of Broadway. A true Broadway star makes us weak at the knees and we hang on every note and gesture.

In recent years, Vallarta has attracted some notable Broadway performers, and ACT2PV is hosting one of the best this season. David Sabella has an impressive performance history on Broadway and in the Cabaret scene nationwide. David delivers a thrilling and satisfying performance each time he takes the stage. The voice, the control, the theatrics and the likeability are all there in one gorgeous package. David was born to perform and his appreciative audiences keep coming back for more!

Broadway’s David Sabella, the original “Mary Sunshine” in the blockbuster Broadway revival of Chicago, presents his hilarious live-singing drag show, “Amanda Reckonwith – Diva 2.0,” exclusively at Act2PV on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 9:30 pm during March. The extraordinary Mark Hartman directs this stunning and hilarious show from the piano, with full symphonic tracks.

With a career spanning decades (and continents), Amanda Reckonwith is a master entertainer! “Fun, vivacious and full of high-drama” in this tour-de-forcé dazzling extravaganza, she takes you through the glitz and glamour of Broadway and movie Musicals. From the moment the curtains rise, you’ll be transported to a world of sequins, feathers, and high-energy performance! And, with Amanda Reckonwith, you can expect a night filled with show-stopping musical numbers, quick-witted humor, heartwarming moments, and lots of HIGH NOTES!

With Broadway, Jazz, Pop, and even a little Opera, all to great comic effect, you’ll enjoy musical tributes to Lady Gaga, Judy Garland, Bette Midler, Ella Fitzgerald, Chita Rivera, Maria Callas, and more… this is a show not to be missed! High Notes and Higher Comedy.

David Sabella also presents his My Broadway show with LIVE SINGING and STORIES spanning his Broadway experience. You can catch this fabulous show at 5 pm on March 29 at The Casa Karma Red Room. In this one-night-only show, this accomplished singer and master storyteller will share stories about his co-stars and experiences as a singer / actor / drag queen on Broadway. He will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. His songs, accompanied by music director, Mark Hartman, are unique and beautiful, and Sabella navigates seamlessly through a spectrum of emotions, from up-tempo numbers to poignant ballads. My Broadway is a testament to the magical intersection of artistry and humanity, making it a truly delightful evening.

Get ready to be dazzled and entertained like never before as Kimberly LaRue presents her spectacular new show, Follies Goes Hollywood! Featuring once again the sensational Drag Diva, Amanda Reckonwith, this performance is more than just a show, it’s an immersive journey through the ages of entertainment, from the dazzling Golden Age of Hollywood to the hottest hits of today. Be prepared for a night of hilarity, show-stopping performances, jaw-dropping costumes, and music that will transport you to the heart of Tinseltown. This spectacular show is featured at The Casa Karma Red Room at 7:30 pm on Fridays, March 8 & 22.

At the request of his fans and friends, on March 14 at 5:00 pm David will be taking center stage as HIMSELF in his award-winning show, Time Heals. An invigorating look at great American standards, rearranged for the 21st century, “Time Heals” is a harmonious blend of songs that, using sensitivity and humor, are structured like a play that delves into the complexities of life. His songs, accompanied by his musical director, Broadway’s own Mark Hartman, are electrifying arrangements and offer a unique and intimate experience.

David Sabella is an award-winning singer/actor, specializing in vocal performance across gender lines. As a male soprano, Sabella toured for years with opera parody troupe, La Gran Scena Opera Co., before winning the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition (1995), when Pavarotti himself publicly declared him to be “Excellent, not good, excellent!” He went on to co-star in the 1996 Broadway revival of Chicago, as “Mary Sunshine.”

As a classical countertenor, Sabella, along with colleagues David Daniels, Brian Asawa, and Mark Crayton, is cited as one of the originators of the “American sound” of countertenor, and the only artist working in the popular music genres of Broadway, Pop, and Great American Songbook.

Sabella currently performs as himself, and as “Amanda Reckonwith,” America’s most beloved “Spento” soprano. For more information, please visit davidsabella.com, or amandareckonwith.com. For show descriptions or tickets go to: act2pv.com.
