Jalisco Closes Entertainment Venues

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, on March 18, the Governor of Jalisco ordered the temporary closure of all entertainment venues in the state, where, to date, 7 cases have been confirmed. In Puerto Vallarta, where no cases of coronavirus have been reported, some restaurants are open.

COVID-19 Preventive Actions Vallarta

At an extraordinary session of the Municipal Health Council, Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña said that though there have been no cases of COVID-19 in Puerto Vallarta to date, preventive actions have been put into place to safeguard the health of its residents and visitors.

Puerto Vallarta Sign Reconstruction

SETAC Mobile Unit Hits Vallarta Streets

On January 24, 2020, the new SETAC Mobile Testing Unit made its first appearance on the streets of Puerto Vallarta. Dr. Jorge Ruiz and 8 volunteers manned the van parked on Lazaro Cardenas, where dozens of people came for testing, and hundreds of free condoms were distributed.

Vallarta Botanical Garden Field Study

A recent graduate of the Longwood Gardens PHP Program, Emrys Stromberg, is working with Vallarta Botanical Garden Executive Director, Neil Gerlowski, on a research project on the culinary and medicinal use of native Mexican flora by the indigenous peoples of Central Western Mexico.
